Yetev Lev Court, Fawcett Estate, Stamford Hill, London E5 for AIHA
1511 YLC
Two dilapidated blocks in the heart of a Council Estate were transferred to AIHA (the Agudas Israel Housing Association) after Hackney’s Direct Labour Scheme failed.
The target tenants were strictly orthodox Chassidic Jewish families, and their integration into the existing estate required careful negotiation with the existing residents.
The resulting 36 spacious flats, mostly 2- and 3- bedrooms, have proved very popular within the Satmar community, especially because of the communal gardens and succahs.
STF acted as Employer’s Agent in a JCT Design and Build Contract.
Construction was completed in 1995 at a cost of £1.6M.
