Planning permission was secured in 2010 for an exciting new entrance to the 1960’s school and community centre. The suspended concrete steps and landing were retained, and a new extended roof and enclosure create a fresh new focal point in the streetscape against the existing muted building facade. Blue and yellow steel cladding panels, and glass balustrade and stainless steel handrail complement the existing building, and back-lit glazed signage and spotlights create a dynamic new entrance experience. Reallocation of funding to security prevented the realisation of this proposal.
The first 5 images show the proposed exterior, image 6 shows the new interior, and image 7 shows the existing entrance.
