New House at Woodford Forest Synagogue for the United Synagogue
1843 WFS
STF secured planning permission in March 2014 for a new 217m² house in LB Redbridge, Enfield.
The new house for the Rabbi and his large family lies to the east of the existing synagogue building, in a 16m wide space between a classroom block and the boundary fence to Churchfields Gardens. It is set back some 3 metres from the front elevation of the adjacent building, which emphasise its subservience. The back north-facing wall of the house, which faces the rear garden, is angled eastwards at 30°, which helps to increase sunlight from the east, and privacy from the adjacent building.
Three balconies overlook the surrounding open spaces, including the community park to the east.
Completion of construction was achieved in October 2017.
